Orientation to the Veterinary Medicine

We don’t have so many subjects in this half of the year; anyway my favorite subject until now is “orientation to the veterinary medicine".
In this subject the teacher talk about the role of the veterinarian in many areas of this type of medicine, like exotics animals, production, ornamental birds, wild animals, preventive medicine, etc.
It’s so interesting because there are a lot of areas and variety that we had never imagined.
Each class is unique, because every day comes a different person that has a special field of the veterinary medicine, and teaches us about his work and who. I love it because isn’t boring like others subjects and every day is different and interesting.
For example, the last week came Gonzalo Gonzáles who talked about wild animals, and it was amazing. He teaches us about the production and the consequences
that involve working with wild animals, the environmental impact, and he gave us much information about endangered species, like vicuña, chinchilla, “monito del monte” and many other wonderful species.

Alexander Fleming

Sir Alexander Fleming

FLEMING WAS BORN IN SCOTLAND IN 1881 . HE STUDIED
AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LONDON. HE WAS INTERESTED IN
INFECTIOUS DISEASES ; IN 1928 , HI DISCOVERED A
SUBSTANCE THAT KILLED BACTERIACOMMON TO MANY
DISEASES . HE CALLED THIS SUBSTANCE ; PENICILLIN .
HE RECEIVED THE NOVEL PRIZE FOR MEDICINE IN 1945 .
HE DIED IN LONDON IN 1955.

In 1999, Time Magazine named Fleming one of the 100 most important people of the 20ºth Century for his discovery of penicillin.

I admire him, because he discovered the cure of a lot of diseases
caused by bacteria, whith an only one substance: penicillin. He save the life of many people and that is the basis of many current medicins.
I think he is brillant and smart. He is a hero.
